<image:caption>Screening the Art World Temenuga Trifonova (ed.) Unlike most studies of the relationship between cinema and art, which privilege questions of medium or institutional specificity and intermediality, Screening the Art World explores the ways in which artists and the art world more generally have been represented in cinema. Contributors address a rarely explored subject -art in cinema, rather than the art of cinema - by considering films across genres, historical periods and national cinemas in order to reflect on cinema’s fluctuating imaginary of ‘art’ and ‘the art world’. The book examines the intersection of art history with history in cinema, cinema’s simultaneous affirmation and denigration of the idea of art as ‘truth’ and what this means for cinema’s understanding of itself, the dominant, often contradictory ways in which artists have been represented on screen, and cinematic representations of the art world’s tenuous position between commercial good and cultural capital. <image:title>Writing - John Latham's Library</image:title>
<image:caption>Photographer: Athanasios Velios © Flat Time House This publication is a result of a residency undertaken at Flat Time House in the Spring/Summer of 2021 focusing on John Latham’s collection of books. Latham’s library, which includes books intended for the making of artwork as well as for research purposes, has never been catalogued or the subject of sustained investigation. Lloyd has explored the library with particular interest in Latham's personal books vs. books for work, marginalia and other physical interventions. This book contains a speculative library, and reflections on conversations with Flat Time House Director/Curator Gareth Bell-Jones, Noa Latham, son of John Latham and Barbara Steveni and Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Calgary, and Lisa Stone, Curator of the Roger Brown Study Collection from 1996–2020. <image:title>Writing - HAIR CLUB: A Case Study for Socially Engaged Art History</image:title>
<image:caption>Suzanne Gold, Kelly Lloyd, Michal Lynn Shumate (HAIR CLUB) Socially Engaged Art History and Beyond: Alternative Approaches to the Theory and Practice of Art History Ed. Cindy Persinger and Azar Rejaie What is socially engaged art history? Art history is typically understood as a discipline in which academics produce scholarship for consumption by other academics. Today however, an increasing number of art historians are seeking to broaden their understanding of art historical praxis and look beyond the academy and towards socially engaged art history. This is the first book-length study to focus on these growing and significant trends. It presents various arguments for the social, pedagogical, and scholarly benefits of alternative, community-engaged, public-facing, applied, and socially engaged art history. The international line up of contributors includes academics, museum and gallery curators as well as arts workers. The first two sections of the book look at socially engaged art history from theoretical, pedagogical, and contextual perspectives. The concluding part offers a range of provocative case studies that highlight the varied and rigorous work that is being done in this area and provide a variety of inspiring models. Taken together the chapters in this book provide much-needed disciplinary recognition to socially engaged art history, while also serving as a springboard to further theoretical and practical work. <image:caption>Kelly Kaczynski, Kelly Lloyd, Mark Jeffery, Shannon Stratton PUBLIC JOURNAL ISSUE 62: Currencies of Hospitality, 2021 Ed. SYLVIE FORTIN. Hospitality is usually considered a philosophical concept, an ethical concern with juridical implications, a sociopolitical practice … or an industry. This publication shifts the focus to speculate on many of its other (often stealth) manifestations. It mobilizes hospitality—as concept, metaphor, performance, and dissidence—to render its pluripotent agency. Its presence can be detected in practices of walking, gathering, swinging, eating, drinking, playing, partying, and loving. This issue of PUBLIC is also a critical curatorial endeavour that weaves together artists’ projects, fiction, scholarly research, and other indefinable forms to explore some of the unexpected valences of hospitality in modern and contemporary art, cinema, animation, and exhibition making; in architecture, infrastructure, land use, and practices of cohabitation; in kinship and care; and in justice, pedagogy, and reparation. <image:title>Writing - Fleeting Monuments for the Wall of Respect</image:title>
<image:caption>Ed. Romi Crawford The Wall of Respect, a work of public art created in 1967 at the corner of Forty-third Street and Langley Avenue on Chicago’s South Side, depicted Black leaders in music, literature, politics, theater, and sports. The Wall sparked a nationwide mural movement, provided a platform for community engagement, and was a foundational work of the Black Arts Movement. There is no longer any physical indication of its existence, but it still needs to be remembered. Romi Crawford proposes the concept of “fleeting monuments,” asking a range of artists and writers to realize antiheroic, non static, and impermanent strategies for commemoration. <image:caption>The Retro-Futurism of Cuteness Ed. Jen Boyle, Wan-Chuan Kao Is it possible to conceive of a Hello Kitty Middle Ages or a Tickle Me Elmo Renaissance? The Oxford English Dictionary dates the first reference to “cute” in the sense of “attractive, pretty, charming” to 1834. More recently, Sianne Ngai has offered a critical overview of the cuteness of the twentieth-century avant-garde within the context of consumer culture. But if cuteness can get under the skin, what kinds of surfaces does it best infiltrate, particularly in the framework of historical forms, events, and objects that traditionally have been read as emergences around “big” aesthetics of formal symmetries, high affects, and resemblances? The Retrofuturism of Cuteness seeks to undo the temporal strictures surrounding aesthetic and affective categories, to displace a strict focus on commodification and cuteness, and to interrogate how cuteness as a minor aesthetics can refocus our perceptions and readings of both premodern and modern media, literature, and culture. Taking seriously the retro and the futuristic temporalities of cuteness, this volume puts in conversation projects that have unearthed remnants of a “cult of cute”—positioned historically and critically in between transitions into secularization, capitalist frameworks of commodification, and the enchantment of objects—and those that have investigated the uncanny haunting of earlier aesthetics in future-oriented modes of cuteness. The Latin acutus, the etymological root of cute, embraces the sharpened, the pointed, the nimble, the discriminating, and the piercing. But as Michael O’Rourke notes, cuteness evokes a proximity that is at once potentially invasive and contaminating and yet softening and transfiguring. Deploying cuteness as a mode of inquiry across time, this volume opens up unexpected lines of inquiry and unusual critical and creative aporias, from Christian asceticism, medieval cycle drama, and Shakespeare to manga, Bollywood, and Second Life. The projects collected here point to a spectrum of aesthetic-affective assemblages related to racial, ethnic, gender, sexual, and class dimensions that exceed or trouble our contemporary perceptions of such registers within object-subject and subject-object entanglements. punctum books, 2017 Text Available Here</image:caption>

      <image:title>Currently On View - PACTO</image:title>
<image:caption>September 2017 - July 2018 Website PACTO will encourage a dynamic dialogue around how artistic action can be a vehicle for enquiry and an apparatus for creating lines of agonistic discourse and empathy building. PACTO is looking to pose a proposition: What is communal negotiation of autonomy? During PACTO all participants will be active members in shaping its ongoing format, defining the terms of the proposition as a group, assisting other members theoretically and practically, playing a role in organising the logistical aspects of your individual and collective research. Central to the project will be a desire to undertake the research collectively, through collaboration and reflection on individual actions and their outcomes. Important to PACTO is the participants’ role as authors of the project’s structure to shape the format that suits our shared aims. PACTO will start in September 2017. Divided into focused months where each participant’s research would take a central position within the groups collective response to the research statement. Each participant will propose a line of research in response to the current central proposition and their ideal residency location during one of the months. PACTO will support the proposals and as a group we will collectively develop the research methods and help make the residencies happen logistically. There will also be 3 residential weeks, bringing all the participants together: one at the beginning of the process, one in the middle and one at the end of the year, where we will all cohabit in the same place and discuss PACTO and the body of collective research that is born from it.</image:caption>

<image:caption>December 8 - 30, 2017 Emceed by Jesse Malmed DEMO Project 732 N 4th St. Springfield, Illinois 62702 Outside Jokes, a group exhibition featuring Kelly Lloyd, Alberto Aguilar, Jessica Campbell, Oli Watt, Neal Vandenbergh, Joshua Albers, Selina Trepp, Lauren Anderson, Jeffrey Austin, Misael Soto, Tegan Brace, Alex Schmidt, Kyle Schlie, Allison Lacher, Alex Bradley Cohen, Julie Potratz, Eric Fleischauer, Ellen Nielsen, Jeff Robinson, Stephanie Graham, Dan Miller, Lauren Taylor, Gabe Holcombe, Maire and Mia, Thad Kellstadt, Victoria Martinez and emcee Jesse Malmed This, here is the have to having been t/here: a series of site-gags, working lines and chasing spotlights. A bill (or, for those whose approach is more formal, a william) stuffed to its gills with genius jokesters and jesturers, as concerned with the aha! in each haha! as gaps between gasps. Comedy is serious business, like writing “shibboleth” in camouflage ink or whispering savory somethings to a street sign. We’ll check back in early 2018, but early reports are that the works here killed, that they literally destroyed the place. Abject-oriented in its hauntology, Outside Jokes gathers together works by two dozen artists that take site-dn-ess as integral to the read of any art, any joke, any interaction, and mucks and musses it. What are the rhythms of pithy patter in a language you don’t speak? Is there any such thing as a thing about nothing, Springfeld? What is two drink minimalism? Outside Jokes takes and makes place on the grounds around and in the back room of DEMO Project and on acretv.org.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Arts Incubator Gallery 301 E. Garfield Blvd Chicago, IL 60637 January 26 - March 16, 2018 Opening, Friday, January 26, 2018, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm   Carris Adams, Bethany Collins, Cream Co., Terrell Davis, Angela Davis Fegan, Sabrina Granados, Deana Lawson, Kelly Lloyd, Shala Miller and Liz Mputu On view at the Arts Incubator Gallery, the exhibition is a program of the ECLIPSING FESTIVAL that converges around the first lunar eclipse of January, 2018. Challenging assumptions of darkness, Eclipsing: the politics of night, the politics of light is a group exhibition that implicates the eclipse as a metaphor in order to explore conversations of power, landscape, language, space and visibility. The exhibition is a series of propositions organized and exhibited together in order to threaten, suspend, reshape and revision expectations and associations between light and dark. From the newspaper front page (Bethany Collins, “The Birmingham News, 1963”) to the sidebar digital ad (Terrell Davis, “Untitled”) and from the hole in the couch (Deana Lawson, “Portal”) to a puddle in the ground (Shala Miller, “The Song the Seed Sings”), the works featured in this exhibition argue for, demand, suggest and encourage an interpretation of the world at large, beyond the binary of light and dark. <image:title>Currently On View - Matt Morris: Splitsville smells like irises</image:title>
<image:caption>August 3 – September 9, 2018 Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York 1329 Willoughby Ave, #2A Brooklyn, NY 11237 www.tigerstrikesasteroid.com “And in my mind, I am watching the creeping excesses of those irises. Their purple-blue hearts. How they gather and wander. How they grow beyond the prescribed borders. And in my mind, this is where I choose to revisit him.” (1) “Sometimes I am empty for a very long time. I have no identity. At first it is frightening. And then it turns to an impulse of happiness. And then it stops.” (2) Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York presents Splitsville smells like irises, an installation by Matt Morristhat includes work by Christopher Backs, Lise Haller Baggesen, Rashayla Marie Brown, Angela Davis Fegan, Alejandro Jiminez Flores, Lee Godie, Kelly Lloyd, James Morris, Aay Preston Myint, Alan Reid, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, and Clara Ursitti. As is typical in his exhibitions, Morris’ work rests between studio production and curation, amongst Readymades, loaned artworks, and questions that upset easily read positions of authorship. A cross-stitched needlework by his father accompany photographs, video, prints, painting, and olfactory artworks contributed from an international coterie of makers—peers in Morris’ Chicago community as well as friends and role models hailing from New York, Los Angeles, Vienna, Glasgow, and beyond. “Ambiguity, duality, the most suspect words of all, they don’t hear them, don’t understand them.” (3) “Even in the most insignificant details of our daily life, none of us can be said to constitute a material whole, which is identical for everyone…our social personality is a creation of the minds of others.” (4) These artists and artworks delve into an examination of code switching, resemblance, imitation, and fragmentation as a set of interrelated strategies by which conceptions of selfhood, subjecthood, and identity might be disrupted. The gathered works collapse across a furniture arrangement redolent of the psychotherapeutic environment, serving as an apparatus that signals embodiment, modes of care, and a proposition of “being together” that is predicated on introspection as well as the kind of looking that galleries typically support. “Everything works. Everything is acceptable. I speak of ‘discourses of reference productive of subjectivity’. What matters to me is clarifying criteria for getting beyond the oppositions….” (5) While the inquiries that inform this exhibition proceed from longer stretching research questions about drag (as painting, as photography, as scent), queer formalism, and the ways that objects hold the potential to behave demonstratively to subvert codes of normativity in contemporary culture, there is also an urgency that prompts this project as a response to shifts in dominant power in the United States. What may have comfortably performed as playful investigations into how we theorize desire and selfhood previously is now distinguished as modes of survival that combine performed selves, upended authorships, and slippages between mediums and categories in order to philosophize forms of living beyond those fiercely defended by the Far Right in this country and in institutionally supported xenophobia around the world. “If I’m loving ‘somewhere else,’ I am betraying the love of he or she who is waiting for me. If I am going off I am leaving, if I’m putting distance between us I already have to leave.” (6) Tiger Strikes Asteroid's 2018 Exhibition Program is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC). ____________ (1) Excerpt from the artist’s eulogy for his father, delivered 18 June 2018. Because you can't eat a painting, does that mean it’s a useless fetish object for the bourgeoisie? Artists are the first to admit that if there was a choice between funding a hospital or an art museum, we'd all choose the hospital... but... what if art could save lives? <image:caption>June 26, 2019 Raven Row 56 Artillery Ln, Spitalfields, London E1 7LS After hosting our first symposium Collectives, not Collections in January 2019, PACTO is back at Raven Row with Collectives as Catalysts. During their break of programming in 2018-2019 Raven Row has invited various collectives and groups to use the space as studios, workspaces and meeting places. What is to be gained from inviting collectives instead of individuals, is it simply a numbers game? After all, there is one thing collectives will always have more of than the individual and that is bodies. But what are collectives for? Why do we form them? How are they structuring themselves? What are the benefits of being in a collective in 2019? For Collectives as Catalysts, PACTO invites collectives and groups from across different fields of creativity, community, activism, design and research to share their knowledge, experiences, passions as well as the challenges that they are currently facing.</image:caption>

If this was a two person show, one person would be words and the other person would be food. Words and food. The two most important things… besides family and art of course. // You know that moment when you’re really tired and you forget how to spell. Squir-r-e-l. Is that how it’s spelled? Is that how squirrel is really spelled? It’s a bit odd, isn’t it? I work in at a reception desk and people tell me their names over and over again. They ask where the bathroom is over and over again. Over and over again to the point where my speech slows and falters. Something breaks, words collide and information I know becomes a question? Ashley… Ashleigh? You’ll find the loo down..the...hall…to...your...left? In these moments the words become as present as the people standing in front of me and just as heavy. // The produce is better in California and it makes everything taste better. The peppers and tomatoes. It tastes like the sun is inside of them.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Demo Room Aarhus, Denmark March 7 - April 26, 2020 Opening Reception: March 6, 4-6pm When artist studios are represented it often looks the same: tin cans full of paintbrushes, chaise lounges, paintings facing the wall, empty frames, hanging textiles, and candles stuck in wine bottles. Kelly Lloyd’s upcoming exhibition in The Demo Room at Galleri Image, titled In the studio, will diverge from this common visual narrative by presenting the studio of contemporary Danish artist Dahn Vo in a manner which interrogates visibility itself. In the studio attempts to complicate the way artistic processes are represented, and to question what impact this has on how artistic labour is understood in the public imagination. In the studio builds of the research Kelly did while in residence at Aarhus Billedkunstcenter in Fall 2018, when she interviewed people in the Aarhus arts sector about their livelihoods. Her work juxtaposes the realities of being a contemporary working artist gleaned from these interviews, with representations of artists' lives and labour in popular culture and fine art. In the studio is the second of three exhibitions at The Demo Room featuring former AaBKC Residency artists-in-residence, and is presented in collaboration with Aarhus Billedkunstcenter. Curated by Pamela Grombacher. Supported by Aarhus Kommune.</image:caption>

<image:caption>30works30days is a month-long project where participants are required to submit a new piece of work, every day for the month of April. The project is open to everyone and any medium is encouraged. If you fail to submit something on one of the days, you are out of the project. 30/30 is to encourage making and experimentation, testing what you think you know about your practice. With the restriction of one day you may find that the choices you make, the corners you cut, and those ideas that you couldn’t quite realise, are just as telling as the work that you produce. Be as lazy or ambitious, as devious or honest as you like. Remember it is your choice and ultimately your representation of the concerns within your practice. This project pairs excerpts from 5 interviews with the interviewees’ responses to the question, What will the future look like? As galleries, museums and cultural spaces remain closed to the public, the project brings together a range of international voices that speculate on what the future might look like while reflecting on systemic issues. Pandemics have played a role in shaping human history throughout the ages – crises and disasters have continually set the stage for radical change. Our lives remain in the process of being transformed. These changes – some predictable, others still hard to fathom – allow us a unique moment to pause and reflect. To what extent can we redefine the way we live our lives?</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Wall of Respect, a work of public art created in 1967 at the corner of Forty-third Street and Langley Avenue on Chicago’s South Side, depicted Black leaders in music, literature, politics, theater, and sports. Latham’s library, which includes books intended for the making of artwork as well as for research purposes, has never been catalogued or the subject of sustained investigation. Since March 2021 Lloyd has explored the library with particular interest in Latham's personal books vs. books for work, marginalia and other physical interventions. Kelly Lloyd will present her research on Saturday, 18 September 2021 at 3pm. Specifically, she will present a speculative library (2006-2021), and read excerpts from a small publication containing thoughts on personal book collections as portraits and the place of books in the archiving and preservation of artist homes and studios, as well as reflections on conversations with Flat Time House Director/Curator Gareth Bell-Jones, Noa Latham, son of John Latham and Barbara Steveni and Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Calgary and Lisa Stone, Curator of the Roger Brown Study Collection from 1996–2020.</image:caption>

Masks will be required for entry. RUSCHWOMAN’s inaugural exhibition brings together a group of artists—both historical and contemporary, hailing from new and far—in Speculative Magenta Hauntology. Including works from Marcel Broodthaers, Judith Brotman, Chiara Fumai, Marcia Hafif, Mark Harris, Kelly Lloyd, André Marin, Eliza Myrie, Nat Pyper, Zachary Rawe, and Christina Zion. Excerpts from these artists’ rigorous and playful practices have been brought into dialogue in order to inquire into the means by which DISCOURSE is constituted, maintained, and supported. In the process of building this exhibition, DESIRE and LANGUAGE have been shown to be significant axes in the development of discursive meaning production. Strategies of quotation, citation, appropriation, divination, recycling, translation, political organizing, confession, and fragmentation carry with them references to pop lyrics, affect theorists, radical feminists, lesbian collectivity, critical race theory in the diaspora, and vaulted pieces of classic literature. Therein the potential for encouraging doubt as a means to proceed positivistically is explored. And with it, an interrogation into what role the historical construct of the ‘feminine’ may serve as it is dis/located within a condition of otherness and directed toward the as yet uncertain. As a discussion, as a total composition, Speculative Magenta Hauntology seeks to substantiate the implications of Karen Barad’s notion that the epistemological and the ontological are coextensive; an upset in the rigid assumptions of how identity and agency operate is inevitable.</image:caption>

<image:title>Currently On View - An Oral History with jina valentine by Kelly Lloyd</image:title>
<image:caption>Available here For visual artist and professor jina valentine, a sense of place is closely tied with the imperative to build community. Having experienced several relocations, first as a student and later as an academic, valentine has met this requirement by developing systems of support and works of collaboration several times over and using a myriad of tactics. These strategies have included co-founding Black Lunch Table, an organization focused on Black artists and legacy; teaching inside and outside the university system; and considering parenthood as slow sculpture. Transdisciplinary artist and educator Kelly Lloyd joins valentine as her interviewer. Bringing these practitioners together offers a salient portrait of the artist as community member. While traversing the landmarks of valentine’s journey, this conversation interrogates the tensions that have presented themselves throughout her career: material/ephemeral, potential/limitation, confidence/doubt, impulse/regret. In this revealing, wide-ranging exchange, the two artists examine the value of mentorship as a vital intervention, explore how to cultivate anchors as a matter of praxis, and explain why the concept of “work” should be called something else. —Andrea L. <image:title>Currently On View - National Sculpture Factory - Loading Bay</image:title>
<image:caption>Loading Bay is a webpage for writing by artists, an online dock – a space of exchange. Curated by Frank Wasser, the commissions collectively convey the materiality of language by teasing out a deft register of content and forms. The title of this project positions an online analogue of the National Sculpture Factory’s loading bay. Loading bays are commonly encountered in factories, commercial units and industrial structures. Functioning as integral parts of a facility, they serve the purpose of providing entry points to staging areas, sites of production, storage rooms, and in this instance, art works. <image:title>Currently On View - , things like this</image:title>
<image:caption>15 November - 14 December, 2024 No Show Space 39 Temple Street London E2 6QQ I’ve stared down enough primed canvases and black screen crashes that even the thought of it induces an immediate feeling of panic in my chest. It’s either, “Oh my god, I have so much work to do…” Or “Oh my god, what happened to all of my work?” And then, “Oh my god, if I can’t find it, I’m gonna have so much work to do…” Do I associate a blank slate, a tabula rasa, only with an unwieldy expectation or an unexpected disaster? But as a visual experience, I find so much pleasure in emptiness. I’ve cried in front of Blinky Palermo’s triangles and will stare out across the water to the horizon for hours. I prefer it, this emptiness. Perhaps because engaging with it requires a different kind of attention and so a different kind of work. But Palermo’s triangles and nature’s horizon aren’t empty of course, they’re blank. They’re not even blank, they’re blank adjacent. They’re relatively blank. And Palermo’s triangles and nature’s horizon aren’t without work of course. They required a lot of work on the part of a lot of people, named and unnamed, to arrive in front of us as relatively blank. But relatively blank in a valued emptiness 留白 (intentionally blank) kind of way, not in a panic-inducing tabula rasa kind of way. In , things like this. Kelly Lloyd presents a new body of work. Lloyd creates installations that combine text, murals, and discrete objects, and writes essays that she occasionally performs. Lloyd interchanges humour, denial, and the personal to maintain a level of indeterminacy in her work that she hopes destabilizes stock relationships between looking, identifying, and understanding.</image:caption>

<image:title>Currently On View - Screening the Art World</image:title>
<image:caption>Temenuga Trifonova (ed.) Unlike most studies of the relationship between cinema and art, which privilege questions of medium or institutional specificity and intermediality, Screening the Art World explores the ways in which artists and the art world more generally have been represented in cinema. Contributions by Temenuga Trifonova, Katherine Manthorne, Susan Felleman, Brigitte Peucker, Pierre-Antoine Pellerin, Des O’Rawe, A. T. McKenna, Gillian McIver, Christine Sprengler, Annie Dell’Aria, Bruce Alistair Barber, Kate Robertson, Steven Jacobs and Joséphine Vandekerckhove, Kelly Lloyd, Susan Flynn, and Marco de Waard. https://www.aup.nl/en/book/9789463724852/screening-the-art-world#toc</image:caption>

      <image:title>Currently On View - To Shift a Stone</image:title>
<image:caption>Sophie Mak-Schram and Collaborators National Museum Cardiff, UK 14 June 2025 – 15 February 2026 Website Working with activists, community workers, artists, and museum staff, Sophie developed collaborative ‘tools’ that challenge and reimagine power structures. These tools range from access templates and new working processes to modified megaphones and ceramic pieces, creating opportunities for shared learning and more equitable collaboration. The resulting two-part exhibition, To Shift a Stone, focuses on categorisations (National Museum Cardiff) and forms of assembling (Chapter). At National Museum Cardiff, the exhibition considers how objects are collected and identified, whose voice can be heard when speaking about these objects, and how to interrupt some of the hidden rules of the museum. The exhibition features some of these tools alongside key items from across the museum’s collections, including the Schools Outreach Collection and the Asian Art corridor. It highlights how power shapes what is seen, preserved, and interpreted.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Currently On View - HAIR + WAITING</image:title>
<image:caption>HAIR CLUB is an interdisciplinary, research-based art collective whose work dives into the topic of hair in culture. Co-founded in 2014, HAIR CLUB puts forth a socially engaged art historical practice which embraces the many associations of hair in culture – art, popular culture, religion, literature, history, politics, and more – as well as the material of hair itself as it finds its way into artists’ practices across the globe. HAIR AND WAITING emerged from Erika Råberg’s invitation to think about hair itself as a time-based medium. The result is a zine which has been slipped into the pages of fashion magazines already sitting in the waiting rooms of hair salons in Stockholm, London, Rome, and Baltimore – cities where each of us is based. Their discovery is left to chance, as they will fall out of their hiding places when someone flips through a magazine. This publication project was made possible with the support of the Curating Art program at Stockholm University. <image:title>It's Just Television - Guilt Savers</image:title>
<image:caption>Created by Lea Devon Sorrentino//Shot by Samuel Johnson// Contribution from Lauren Klien Guilt Savers is a service aesthetic project that assumes the persona of house flipping companies like “We Buy Ugly Houses”, a business that purchases homes from desperate sellers who need cash quickly. This commercial is an introduction to Guilt Savers, a company that will absolve white men of their guilt towards structural oppression without them having to lift a finger. Since physical space is something humans decided has borders to occupy and own, sell and trade, why not Guilt? Guilt abolition is the newest commodity with high demand and unequal distribution. This market is a new frontier and Guilt Savers wants to be at the forefront of development. America is known for its commodification of experiences and goods. Most consumerism focuses on filling a need or a desire but that line is blurred due to the mental relationship we have with consuming. What we can own and acquire becomes an outward manifestation of our worth, without an internal relief from societal expectation. Compound consumption with structural inequality and the chances of being able to clearly make autonomous decisions is almost impossible. The mental load of the consumer is constantly increasing, especially if you are a woman or part of a marginalized population. Within Capitalism consuming is considered a representation of success. In this system white wealthy men maintain status and control because of their purchasing power. Guilt Savers highlight the hypocrisy to who has access to relief within a system that was constructed for a specific group of people. Website</image:caption>

<image:title>It's Just Television - What Do Artists Do All Day?</image:title>
<image:caption>CaW Research Group CaW was a research group founded in 2014, consisting of 9 recent BA Fine Art graduates from Central St Martins: exploring the proposition that fine art practice per se is a model for resilience (psychologically, socially and culturally). CaW’s activity was a critical evaluation of their experiences as they tried to sustain their practices in the wider world beyond university. CaW discussed, performed and documented the individual and collective experience of the practical, social and political strategies in which the artist has to undertake to survive. We proposed a system of resilience, of collaboration, entropy and pretense. Members included the artists Sophie Chapman, Sid Charity, Carolina Escobar Diaz, Angus Frost, Georgia Gendall, Bryony Hussey, Lou Macnamara, Laila Musawi and Andra Roduca. Website</image:caption>
